Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and bridges are another system of restorative dentistry. A fixed bridge literally “bridges” the gap created by one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges offer reliable tooth replacement for patients who are more comfortable with a more permanent device. A fixed dental bridge is non-removable, just like dental implants, but bridges are a non-surgical option. We can use your remaining teeth to hold your replacement teeth in place, and we can create natural-looking tooth replacement with porcelain fixed bridges.
Replacement teeth are fused together with crowns, which are then placed on the adjoining teeth. When you lose teeth, we will definitely recommend that you replace them for a number of reasons, including:
- Losing teeth causes remaining teeth to move
- The spaces left by missing teeth are prone to gum disease and cavities
- Bite changes can lead to TMJ problems and more
- Missing teeth raise the risk of losing more teeth
- Looking your best helps you feel your best
Fixed Bridge
While you wait for your fixed bridge to be finished, you’ll wear a temporary bridge to provide function and act as a placeholder for your permanent bridge. We’ll prepare the teeth that will be anchoring the bridge in place, getting them ready to be fit with crowns. Once your fixed bridge is ready, you’ll return to the office so Dr. Turner can place it, bond it, and modify it for a perfect fit. We take great care to make sure you get the best quality fixed bridges possible at our Pikesville dental office.
